Connect Sandisk Sansa Clip+ to Ubuntu 14.04

I have an old Sandisk Clip that I dug out of a box and wanted to get some music back onto. In the past I would plug it in and it would work fine. Now, each time that I plug it in it gives me an error message “Unable to Open MTP Device”.

It turns out the resolution to this problem is pretty straightforward. In the Sansa Clip+ go to **Home –> Settings –> System Settings –> USB Mode **. On my device * Autodetect * was selected as the default option. If you change autodetect to MSC it will now work when plugged into your computer.

The Sansa Clip is a pretty basic music player, but the best part about it is that is supports OGG format by default. This is not very common in most mp3 players, so hats off to Sandisk for supporting open standards.

If you made it this far, you should probably follow me on twitter. 🙂
