Word of the Day : Engender

| life | school |

en⋅gen⋅der   [en-jen-der] –verb (used with object)

  1. to produce, cause, or give rise to: Hatred engenders violence.

I am just wondering why they had to use such an uncommon word. I think college books do this on purpose to force you to waste time looking up the meaning of words.
