The Treasure

By: Lazar Lazinsky

Oh, our mother-in-law!
Our hearts palpitate when we see her.
We have the dreams with her all night.
Unfortunately, we inherit the treasure with our bride.
Why do we like these moms?
Why are we afraid of their strong tongues?
Because they present us their advice
And we pay the bills on the highest price.
But I was in lucky in my early marriage;
My mother-in-law had the big courage
when she adopted me as a poor poet,
because she was interested in poetry, yet.
When I dedicated to her a short romance,
She comprehended this verse at a glance.
She kept my poems in a special handbag
And she carried the burden as an old lag.
When she was gone and couldn't come back,
Her daughters opened slightly the handbag . . .
But found the pages only with my poems
These verse were for her with big importance . . . .
